Any reason that ip + port would be preferable to uid in python?
I was curious why python chose to use ip address and port as the default for obtaining an object like uid_from_ip_and_port
uid = uuid.uuid4()
Rather than the standard uuid.uuid
uid = uuid.uuid4()
Why did the python developers pick this strategy over the other?

An alternative of uuid.uuid4() is to use the platform specific UUID() API.
UUID() has the following advantages:
The type has a reasonable size.
It’s guaranteed to be unique (no randomness).
It’s guaranteed to be unique across platforms.
To add to this list:
There are a lot of existing UUID implementations (registries).
The performance is often much better.
A:
If the port is ever used as a filename extension, then that might be a reason to use ip+port, as the user might have a uuid.uuid() file sitting around.
