He wanted to create a playground for kids, where they could build and play without the pressure of adults. The game, which was a version of Space Invaders titled "Robotron", was released in March 2006.

Roblox was designed as a new way to interact with children, who were thought to be losing interest in video games. Due to the movie "The Incredibles", and the increasing availability of video games, children were no longer considered to be interested in playing video games for an extended period of time.
