History
AutoCAD was originally developed in the 1980s by a team at the Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, under the name of Document File Display.
AutoCAD History
It started as a "fancy-looking" drawing program that worked on large drawings and was sold to users with high-end desktop computers. But for small drawings, it was not much better than others. The first version was the Original Release, which was based on a concept of "vector objects".
The first version was available only in English. Later a Canadian software company, Vector Technology, Ltd. based in Montreal, released it for worldwide use. It was officially announced at the 1983 CAD Show in Toronto. The original software, with English menus and features, was sold in the local Canadian market, and later to the rest of the world. In 1983 and 1984, their "Toolbox" additions were developed for the Amstrad CPC and ZX81.
AutoCAD Version 3.0 (1984) introduced the first "AutoLISP", in the Autodesk version, and the first known "AutoLISP". It was a user-friendly programming language for AutoCAD users.
In 1984, the English name of AutoCAD was changed to Autodesk-AutoCAD to avoid confusion with Autodesk-AEC (AutoCAD Electrical) and Autodesk-AutoCAD Architecture.
AutoCAD Version 2.1 (1984), introduced the first "family" feature, which grouped multiple related objects, such as a group of related text frames.
AutoCAD 2.2 (1985) added a capability to view two or three dimensions at once (planar display).
AutoCAD Version 2.3 (1985) introduced the capability to create three-dimensional drawings from 2D objects in 2D space.
AutoCAD 2.4 (1986) introduced the "AutoLISP" programming language.
AutoCAD Version 2.5 (1987) introduced the "CADPLAN" (Common Applications Development Program Language) language.

A rat gastrinoma cell line (STC-1) has been established from the peri-gastric lymph nodes of a patient with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Although different from rat normal pituitary cells, STC-1 cells show gastrin-like immunoreactivity by immunocytochemistry and gastrin-stimulated proliferation of isolated gastrinoma cells by DNA synthesis assay. As compared to rat normal gastrinoma cells, STC-1 cells showed significant increase in the number of cells positive for GFAP, vimentin, MHC class II, and POMC mRNA, and decreased expression of cytokeratin 8 and PRL-I mRNA. The percentage of GFAP and POMC mRNA positive cells as well as the intensity of immunoreactivity for GFAP and POMC protein were significantly higher in the tumor than in the peritumoral and normal pituitary cells. The cell type-specific transcripts and proteins were also detected by differential display PCR in both STC-1 cells and in vivo, showing that RT-PCR is a useful technique in analyzing the oncogenomic profile of rat gastrinoma cells.
