At the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, the old Hilton hotel will be reduced to rubble after the Macon-Bibb County Commission approved demolition of the building during its meetings Tuesday. Commissioners also accepted revisions to the Renaissance on the River agreement with the Urban Development Authority that owns riverfront land off Riverside Drive. The county also secured parking for its workers as a new parking deck is built behind City Hall and approved $305,000 in SPLOST funds to renovate the District Attorney's Office. Commissioners also zeroed out the balance on American Rescue Plan Act funds, approved $2.6 million in capital improvement projects, and $1.4 million in SPLOST projects.
