This summary (tweets posted August 2020 that used #covid19uk hashtag) uses data from 13,898 tweets posted during August 2020, by 6468 tweeters, receiving 28,832 retweets. You can also download this summary as a PDF.
Overall 193 tweeters (3% of total) received 80% of retweets from 2,815 tweets (20.3% of total). In contrast, 4,270 (66.0% of total) received no retweets from 5,800 tweets (41.7% of total). 
Summaries from previous months (see July summary here) have taken the top 3 tweets for each day (by retweets received) without any further editing. This meant that these earlier summaries tended to be dominated by some big name tweeters, losing some of the diversity of tweeting under the hashtag. For August I have taken a different approach, making sure that we have no more than 3 tweets by any of the tweeters (including tweets from previous summaries). Of the 79 tweeters included in this month's summary, 46 were in the top 100 tweeters for August (based on number of retweets received). In general the approach taken here has provided more personal views and less polarised opinions (though of course there remain some strong and sometimes extreme viewpoints here).
