Creating a study using SSRP? Here are some tips for IRB approval:

When completing the question, here are some language you can start with:

"Provide a description of the research participant population(s)." ->"The CofC School of Business Student Research Pool (SSRP) will be utilized to acquire research participants."

"Describe benefits which are likely to accrue to the participant. If none, please enter 'none'." -> "The study will take approximately 25 minutes, so it will account for 1 credit on the SSRP (SONA) platform." [Based on the length of the study, you can modify the credits awarded]

"Will participants receive payment, extra credit points, or other form of compensation for participation?" -> "Yes"
--> "Students will not receive a monetary incentive but are participating as a result of their enrollment in the School of Business Student Research Pool. As such, they may earn credit or bonus points toward their classes (for participating classes only).
For those that do not wish to participate in the survey, there is an alternative credit option within the SSRP-SONA platform where students are invited to read one of the pre-identified academic articles, and respond to prompts summarizing what they read and learned from the survey."

"Describe how the human participants will be recruited or how data will otherwise be obtained." -> "The CofC School of Business Student Research Pool (SSRP) will be utilized to acquire research participants. Students are recruited into the SSRP (SONA) platform my instructors. Participants are required by instructors to earn 2-5 credits that go toward class credit. The SONA system ensures students' anonymity. Similar to the Psychology department's usage of SONA, their data is anonymous and instructors only receive a report with the number of credits earned at the end of the semester."

"Will you recruit any participants through another institution, e.g. another college, public school, hospital, etc.?" -> "No"

"Are you collecting data anonymously (individuals cannot be identified in any way)? If yes, describe the procedures to assure anonymity." -> "Yes ; The SONA system ensures students' anonymity as it does not use a traceable identifier attached to the survey. In addition, the Qualtrics platform will not capture any identifiable information."

"Will the participants be identifiable in the database used for the research?" -> "No"
