Example Use: Think forum discussions where you can actually see the other individual instead of just reading their words. When it comes to discussions, seeing the other individual (especially when its a topic that is quite emotional, or can be a topic that can divide people easily) it is better to see the other person while they speak their thoughts. We tend to be more empathetic towards the other individual and potentially are both more likely to understand them and truly listen in the format. This is where Flipgrid can be very useful. Instead of just responding to a faceless someone you have never met, you can actually see them and have a better understanding potentially of their meaning, since things like tone, and vocal inflection come out in a video. The class can hold discussions that are now video based, yet still asynchronous, and allow us to connect more with the individual and their comments. The platform also allows you to group videos based on "assignments" or discussions, so you as an instructor are not just filtering through tons of videos, but rather grouped based on the discussion at the time. Instructor and student can respond to each other as well, again giving more of that true discussion feel.
Considerations: 
This tool is completely free and integrates well with a lot of LMSs. 
Some of the biggest concerns has to do with the privacy of a student, particularly one who does not like to be in front of a camera while talking. This could add a level of anxiety to a student during a discussion, and thus impact how they respond.
Though this platform is completely free and on many difference devices (phones, tablets, MAC, PC) you do need a device with a camera to use the app and participate. 
You need fairly reliable internet to both stream other student responses, as well as posting your own responses. Video certainly uses more bandwidth and data making it harder on people in lower connectivity locations.
