Native American Lifestyle: A Balanced Relationship with the Environment

In this collection, we will look at four different Native American Nations: the Iroquois, the Abenaki, the Powhatan, and the Cherokee, and their various living styles as they survived on the North American east coast in the 17th and 18th centuries (1600s and 1700s). We will be focusing on how they lived, what they needed to survive, and how they acquired these necessities from the natural world around them prior to and during early contact with European settlers. In the resources and activities that follow, jump in and learn about a variety of Native Nations and how they lived in the past!
