The developers of this tool adopted its name as the name of their developer company. On June 22, 2018, Roblox announced the introduction of Robux, its virtual currency. It was originally planned to be launched in September 2018, but was postponed to January 2019. The first content creator to introduce Robux was Shoutem, a publishing company that is working with Roblox to partner on content creation.
The free tool is only available in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom, and for users who aren’t 13 years old. The company no longer provides the free tool to users located outside those countries.
In 2011, Roblox Studio introduced a program called the Community Development Fund, a financing mechanism that allows developers to invest their funds in gaming improvements on Roblox. The company also introduced an offline game development feature to help independent developers to release games outside of the Roblox platform. Roblox Studio began to introduce a number of initiatives to support independent developers and promote game development on Roblox, such as the Roblox Indie Games Contest and the Roblox Support Program.
On August 31, 2012, Roblox announced its first content creation partnership with Shoutem, a Slovenian company that designs games and emulators for a variety of systems.
