Mohegan Sun and Tesla celebrated the huge opening of their all-new Tesla Electric Vehicle (EV) showroom with a complete sales and delivery center. Attendees celebrated the opening, new partnerships, and the environmental benefits that zero-emission vehicle growth could bring to the region.

The new sales and delivery center is the first of its kind in Connecticut. The Mohegan tribe is a sovereign nation with its own laws, ordinances, and management services, which adds zero-emission vehicle sales to allow it to join stores on the Mohegan Line. In other areas that allow manufacturers to sell zero-emission vehicles directly to consumers, there is increasing adoption of electric vehicles that come with cleaner air and better health outcomes for residents. The partnership will also lead to an expansion of the charging infrastructure on the Mohegan Line.

A special event on Wednesday, Dec. 20, also featured some of the first Tesla buyers to buy a new Tesla from the Mohegan Sun.

"With full sales, service, and delivery operations, opening a Tesla electric showroom here at our shop on the Mohegan Line is the next chapter in our ongoing goal of creating a unique experience at our 5.5 million square foot destination," said Jeff Hamilton, President and GM of Mohegan Line. "This new partnership will also significantly upgrade existing charging spaces, providing enhanced amenities and more convenience for customers and travelers across the region."

The Tesla EV Showroom in the Shops at the Mohegan Sun runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day from Sunday to Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The Mohegan Sun's collaboration with Tesla will also result in a significant deployment of electric vehicle chargers across Mohegan Sun's parking infrastructure. The upcoming project will install 60 new Tesla Universal Wall Connectors in the Riverview, Summer, and Winter garages connected to the resort.
The chargers will work with all electric vehicles to make them accessible to all those who may need them. Completion of the project is planned for the spring of 2024, and if warranted, Mohegan Sun and Tesla will increase the total by over 100 chargers. The project is currently planning to secure a total of 75 chargers for the Mohegan Line, which makes it one of the nation's leaders, with the largest deployment of Tesla Universal Wall Connectors in Connecticut.

Wednesday morning's grand opening celebration also included comments from Lori Brown, executive director of the CT Environmental Protection Federation. Brown talked about the opening ceremony being a win for consumers, a win for the country, a win for the environment, and the wider impact that efforts toward sustainability can have.

Mohegan Sun and its parent company, Mohegan, are committed to supporting the economic growth, tourism, and communities in and around the region in which they operate, and sustainability initiatives are a key part of this ongoing goal. Tesla will also work with Mohegan to integrate local talent into its workforce development program. The program offers Mohegan Tribune members and Mohegan team members the opportunity to learn different skills and technician training, potentially paving the way for exciting career opportunities with Tesla. Some members of the Mohegan Tribune already belong to Mohegan Sun's Tesla team.

The Shops at Mohegan Sun is a 130,000-square-foot two-story dining and shopping pavilion that connects the Casino of the Sky with the Earth.
