Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller plans another tax rate rollback with pay raises for all county workers in his proposed $211.6 million Fiscal Year 2025 budget. Miller outlined spending plans in key departments such as public safety, economic development, beautification and recreation. A budget hearing is set for June 4 at 5 p.m. and commissioners will vote June 18 during the 6 p.m. meeting. After an executive session, the Macon-Bibb County Commission approved the purchase of 17 acres around Lower Poplar, Seventh and Tenth streets and the transfer of 12.44 acres near the old landfill on Walker Swamp Road to the Urban Development Authority.
