After using the Hadoop MapReduce framework in a variety of applications, I decided to apply it to a real problem which will occur in every project. The problem is, that we need to prepare an automated web-application for it. We plan to use a web-based GUI for automatically creating the application. I found an interface for Hadoop cluster using eclim (Java Eclipse console) and a.war archive. This way we are able to create the GUI based on the dashboard at the time when the application goes online. The application should be able to do the following tasks:
At the very beginning it should provide the options:
Name node
Slave node
Storage location
# of CPUs
# of RAM
How many nodes should be there? (The clustering algorithm is not described, so this option is there to make it easier to guess )
How to Connect the client to the Name Node?
How to make the client connect to the remote machine (Which instance of the Name node this machine is used at)? The client will provide the IP address of the name node.
How to write to the file system? In the GUI the client should be able to choose the location of the file system and the location of the file.
