When creating a feature curve, the user can control the number of points and degrees of freedom. The user can choose between three, six, and nine discrete curves, and specify the number of points to use. The user can set each curve to be curved in only one direction, create a cubic spline or a Bezier curve, and draw closed or open curves. The user can also set the direction of the curve to either positive or negative.
Another new feature is the ability to check for collisions and make measurements in 2D. This tool can be used to check for collisions between elements, create a centerline, measure a distance or angle, or create a point.
In addition to these major improvements, AutoCAD 2018 makes the creation of elevations, slices, or 3D printing even more powerful.
A new one-click command, “Insert point along path,” allows the user to place a point at an arbitrary location along a path. This tool can be used for a variety of purposes, such as placing a circle on a path, creating new points along a spline, or creating a third dimension on a face.
