The frameserver plugin will serve frames of video and audio data from a timeline to another application for editing. It can be used as an undo/redo function with NLE's like FCP and iMovie. This plugin emulates how the NLE does the frame export directly from the timeline. Its implemented using the iFrame Server technology.
The Frameserver in laymans terms is an encoded version of the input media. It is used to send some or all of the frames of the media stream to an application which can do editing on the media. This other application is called the frame server application.
Its important to understand that the frameserver in no way decodes or "render" the frames in the stream. Its just the low-level frameserver. Its done entirely at the lower application level. All the encoding is done on the application side.
Why should you use the Frameserver in your application?
The frameserver gives your application access to the very low level of the media stream. This allows the application to understand where the media ends without doing any decoding. The application can do editing directly on the timeline without having to do a full render to a temp file. This can be a big performance gain for your application.
You can use the Frameserver to facilitate the export and rendering of the timeline to another application.
The frameserver can also be used to interperet the media in applications that do not accept a framesource at all. For example: the auidoencoder can export a.WAV format version of the media directly from the timeline. The frameserver can make that output available to your application.
NOTE: The Frameserver does not do a full render of the media. It does a low-level export of the media frames.
Image Sequence Export:
The Frameserver can save the frame sequence as a file of type Image Sequence (Individual Frames). You can select the types of formats that are saved (BMP, TIFF, PNG, JPEG).
AudioServing:
The Frameserver can also be used as an Audio server. It can "play" an audio file of the same duration as the timeline. The audio file is saved to a.wav format of your choice.
The AudioServing is a plug in and not a frame server.
AudioServing Description:
The AudioServing plugin allows you to do realtime playback of the audio stream. The frames in the timline are sent to the AudioServing using the Frameserver technology.

This is a plugin to allow non-linear editing systems and image sequence editors to export their audio video timeline data to a service application.
It will allow other applications to read the audio video data straight from the timeline in the NLE. This e.g. makes it possible to make use of a frame as an input clip in another application in a non-linear editing environment.
It also allows you to serve the audio video timeline data as image sequence files (e.g. a BMP) to applications which do not understand the video source format.
Since it is an external service application, it requires a communication socket which is then used to provide the Frameserver with the audio video data. This allows you to interlink any number of editing systems.
The plugin also allows you to export the audio video timeline data as a MOV file, which is a compressed video format that can be played with Apple Quicktime.
