The first task was to finish up the oars that had received some epoxy putty to fill in some small dents and cracks in the wood. After diligent sanding and one more coat of gray bilge paint, the oars are ready for use with the addition of the oar-locking hardware. As a nice touch, Greensboro city logo decals were added because these oars are going to be used by rowboat rentals at Lake Townsend. These oars will be delivered when the boat is taken for a trial at lake townsend. The next task on the skiff was to work on priming the rub rails in preparation for receiving a deep red accent color. One coat was applied and left to dry overnight. While the paint was drying on the rub rail of the skiff, I worked on hand planing down the edges of the seat for the center section of the row boat. After the edges were brought down flush with the rest of the seat, the whole piece was given a light sanding in preparation for varnish. One final task I worked on in the afternoon was cleaning out a heavily used medium electric skiff that had some questionable paint and fiberglass work done to the exterior and interior. My task was to pressure wash the boat and use a vacuum to remove the old debris and paint chips. Along with cleaning the boat, I removed the old wiring and small electric motor in preparation for a full restoration and motor refitment.
