Universal Newsreel Corp. v. Paramount Pictures, Inc. was a landmark copyright infringement case decided by the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  The case ruled on the scope of first-sale doctrine for the purpose of audio cassettes. The court ruled that such a copyright holder does not need permission from the copyright owner before transferring ownership of the physical object, as long as the copyright holder is given a reasonable opportunity to return the object to a lawful state following the transfer.
Background 
Universal was engaged in the business of packaging, selling, and renting movie soundtracks. In 1972, Universal had a contract with record company Varèse Sarabande which granted Varèse the right to manufacture the first 10,000 copies of each soundtrack purchased by Universal. Universal released a VHS tape of the soundtrack, with a note on the back of the box calling for the purchaser to return the tape to them. All of the tapes sold without incident until Paramount and other film studios released VHS tapes of movies with their own soundtracks. These tapes were copied by the studios, and Universal responded by filing a copyright infringement suit against Paramount for making a copy of Universal's copyrighted material, and Universal sought to enjoin the sale of Paramount's VHS tapes. Universal's claim to the tapes was based on the fact that the original contract with Varèse allowed for the tape to be transferred

CheckFolder is the portable edition of CheckFolder. It's an easy-to-handle app that can scan entire folders to verify whether the contained files are corrupt or not.

There is no setup pack involved, so you can extract the application files to any directory on the disk and just click the.exe to launch CheckFolder. There is also the possibility to store it on a removable storage unit (like a pen drive) to easily run it on any PC and verify file integrity. Unlike most installers, it doesn't modify Windows registry settings.

This simple task can be triggered with the click of a button, after which CheckFolder shows two progress bars for the current file and overall task. Plus, you can check out the elapsed, remaining and total time, processed files and folders, together with identified errors (if any).
Customize program settings:
You can change the skin, set the buffer size (in bytes), and control errors by preventing denied access or sharing violations. On the downside, you can't open the location of the faulty files in Windows Explorer without leaving CheckFolder's interface, nor can you automatically remove them from the disk or at least move them to a separate folder.
