problems with validation of foreign keys
I've started developing this app after finishing Laracasts tutorials and I'm kinda stuck.
I've got two models (user and invitation) and a table for invitations having two foreign keys which references users and invitations. How can I validate and create a new invitation withouth trying to create 2 new records (invitation and user)?
this is what I've done.
class Invitation  :user_id

I've tried all combinations without success.

You should use has_one and belong_to like this:

  validates :email, email: true
  validates :invitation_code, presence: true
  validates :invitation_code, length: {minimum: 6, maximum: 14}
end

  has_one :invitation, :class_name => 'Invitation', :foreign_key => :user_id, :conditions => { :user_id => user.id }

This will set up the associations to allow you to create invitations without having to create a user.
