setInterval(test, 5000);
This doesn't call test(), why?

You have to call setInterval like this:
setInterval(test, 5000);
This will call test() inside the interval and then it will be executed on the next tick.

setInterval(test, 5000) you're calling function test rather than passing it to setInterval.
Also, you don't need to pass setInterval a function.

Using C library on Xcode 4
I have a C library that I want to use on my iPhone app. The library needs to be compiled with the default Apple LLVM compiler (clang).
I've already got some Objective-C code to compile that needs the same compiler, so I know that it's possible to use clang.
Is there anyway to use the clang compiler that Xcode uses by default for Objective-C code?
Or is there a way to use the normal gcc compiler that comes with Xcode?

You can use the Apple's clang compiler on iOS as well. You need to use a static library instead of the dynamic library. Here's a code snippet from the LLVM page:
