How to access Ember Data model from the view
I am really at a loss here. I am trying to access an ember model in a handlebars template and cannot get it working.
My App.Route.route:
App.ApplicationRoute = Ember.Route.extend({
    model: function() {
        return App.person;
    }
})
My model:
App.person = DS.Model.create({
    name: DS.attr('string')
})
My View:
App.PeopleListView = Ember.View.extend({
    templateName: 'people/list',
    tagName: 'ul',
    classNameBindings: ['is-person:person-list-item', 'has-error:person-list-item-error'],
    person: null
})
A view's {{person}} is always empty. I have tried to force it to be populated with the model in the route, and then passing that into the view.
My view:
App.PeopleListView = Ember.View.extend({
    templateName: 'people/list',
    tagName: 'ul',
    classNameBindings: ['is-person:person-list-item', 'has-error:person-list-item-error'],
    person: null,
    init: function() {
        App.controller.set('person', App.person);
    }
})
As far as I can see from the docs, there should be a set of databinding that just makes this work.
When I try and access {{person.name}} in the template, it returns nil, even though App.person is populated with an object.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

It should be {{person.name}} not {{person}}. The Ember team would recommend the use of a computed property as well, which would be much simpler.
