"This game is over." The doctor says. He clicks something on the monitor and runs back down the hall.
Quickly, you realise you're trapped. Your heart racing, you're fighting back tears when the doctor opens the door to the operating room. Behind him is my mother, clutching a fistful of clothes.
"What do you want?" you scream. "Leave me alone!"
"You've taken our child away." She says. "We're taking him back. Come with us."
"You don't understand. I just want my son." You beg. "I want my son back."
"We know how close you and Emily were." She tells you. "That's why we need you to sign something. It's just a formality. We can't let you bring your son here. We need to protect him."
"A blood test." You tell them. "I'll prove it was just a fluke. Please, take me to Emily."
A squeal of laughter follows as the doctor walks back in with Emily. Her face streaked with tears. Behind them walk my mother and her goons. She's a furious woman. But in comparison to how angry my mother is. She's a tiny old lady.
"How could you?" Emily wails. "I had my baby in your house!"
"It was just a joke." You tell them. "We were fooling around."
Emily only gasps. My mother looks at you and raises an eyebrow. You break down. You know that little face will come every time something bad happens in your life. All the foreshadowing. You've been a very lucky person.
"Please, I was just having fun. I promise I won't bring my son here. I'd take him with me but I don't want to leave him." You beg.
"Emily, sign this to say you won't claim to the child. It's just so the court doesn't take him away from you. Sign it here, on the dotted line." My mother hands it to you. You look at it and if it was any other day, you might have read what it said. But it was supposed to say something different today. Something horrible. It's a piece of paper which will ruin your life.
"No!" You shout. "No! I can't sign this. You can't take him away
