Public and Private sector
To describe in brief, the private sector businesses are owned, funded and controlled by the private sector whereas the public sector businesses are owned, funded and controlled by the local government, the private sector’s main aim is to be profitable whereas the public wants to be a service provider.
Throughout time there have been strikes of both private and public sectors a few of them are the 1972 UK miners strike where mine workers protested against the government as they were not getting any benefits. The then prime minister Margaret Thatcher came up with a sharp and strategic way to put an end to it.
The winter of discontent 1979 throughout October 1978 to February 1979 the UK saw a series of strikes which they hadn’t seen since 1926, the majority representation was from the National Health Service (NHS) and many other public sector workers due to the low wages given, it was a hard time for the people with many departments being shut and even the parliament being in confusion in the role of trade unions and continuously debating about it (Peopleshistorynhs, c2021).
1984-1985 UK miners strike this was where the miners were striking demanding cancellation pit closures as they were financially not doing well however as it had been going on throughout the years the miners returned back to work with no response from the government.
