FreeDombraTuner is a software utility that enables you to experiment with new sounds for your Dobra, by offering you a wide array of tuning options and various pitches used around the world. All of the provided tunings can be listened and tested inside the application, so that you can choose the one that best fits your purposes.
The list of pitch modes is comprised of a multitude of styles, each one taken from a specific time period or region. Thus, you can make your Dombra sound as it does in the Boston Symphony Orchestra, or toy around with the Renaissance and Scientific pitches to obtain the effect you are looking for. Beside the already mentioned settings, you can also opt for the Baroque, France1859 and Concert pitches, as well as a few others.
Hear the modifications on-the-fly
As you might expect, the utility can only be used for educational purposes, since you still have to manually adjust your instrument to obtain the desired pitch. However, the application does provide you with sound samples for each mode, so that you can hear how it should sound and apply the modifications to your own Dobra.

In the beginning, the human soul was a delicate flame, and to the divine essence it was attached. It was in these early days that all things truly began. Eventually, the flame became so strong that it consumed all the other elements of the universe and became one with the infinite. In this state, the soul experienced divinity in its purest form, but even as the flame of the soul became one with the infinite, a great burning pain overtook the soul, and the soul began to suffer. Because of its unending suffering, the immortal soul craved freedom; a freedom from the suffering that it now felt.
Persevere in this feeling, and the eternal spirit separated from the mortal soul. The immortal body was set free as a spirit, and as it wandered through the inter-dimensional void, the different spirits became conscious of the individual souls of the mortal bodies that were found wandering through the inter-dimensional void. Though the mortal souls were immortal and only dreamed of returning to their mortal bodies, the immortal spirits of the eternal soul began to search for and seek out this mortal soul. By the pursuit of this discovery, the immortal spirit became one with the mortal soul, becoming the mortal body, which is often referred to as the soul body.
Thus, when the mortal body dies, the immortal soul, which is the inner parts of that mortal body, continues to live on. The immortal soul is forever seeking a new mortal body, and since the mortal body is not attached to the divine spirit, but merely a temporary vessel that houses the immortal soul, the immortal soul may inhabit other mortal bodies and so long as the mortal body desires to be resurrected, so long as the immortal soul is attached to the mortal body, the immortal soul will not perish.
As the mortal soul and the immortal soul are forever seeking a mortal body, some mortals had the ability to protect an immortal soul from being reincarnated into another mortal body by committing the mortal soul to the divine essence. In this state, the mortal soul would no longer possess its own independent will or desire to be reincarnated into another mortal body, and instead, the immortal soul would only be inhabiting this mortal soul in an eternal state until the mortal soul desired to be resurrected again.
This was a state of affairs that happened in many mortal souls. Some mortals, however, possessed an independent will or desire to seek the next mortal body they would inhabit, instead of just depending upon the immortal soul to choose the next mortal body, so those mortals pursued an immortal soul
