This "top tweets" summary uses data from July 2021 tweets that used the #Covid19UK hashtag. Data were imported each hour during July 2021 using TAGS and mapped using NodeXL, before reimporting the tweets using TAGS on 14 August to update the number of retweets received by that point. 
There were 22,301 tweets posted by 10,106 tweeters in the final import, with 45,704 retweets received. Overall 212 (2.1%) tweeters received 80% of the retweets while 6,983 (69.1%) tweeters received no retweets. 
The 93 tweets listed below were selected as follows:
all 22,301 tweets were ordered by tweeter and number of retweets and likes received, identifying the top 3 tweets posted during July 2021 for each tweeter.
these flagged tweets were then used to identify the most popular tweets, by number of retweets received, for each day in July 2021.
these 93 tweets, posted by 80 tweeters, were then ordered chronologically and are listed below. 
The top 25 tweeters are listed in the table below. These 25 tweeters received almost 50% of all retweets. 
As for previous months there are a range of views presented, and these are listed without further editing. Inclusion in this summary does not mean that I support individual posts. Indeed some of the more successful tweeters using this hashtag are posting misinformation/ disinformation - understanding this is important, and part of the reason for this work. There is a clear and effective public health to tackling the pandemic, well documented on sites such as the Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance page. Individuals and organisations should be supporting this well defined public health approach, supporting individuals to socially distance, wear masks, get vaccinated, work from home, self isolate when necessary, and all the other steps required in this global response.
