Don't you hear all those radio ads about gold, if you're like me? Would you believe gold is one of the most valuable metals? The beautiful yellow metal is one of the most popular PMs (precious metals - for short). But silver, platinum, and palladium are also good investments. Please give me a couple of minutes so that I can explain how PMs have helped me to protect and create wealth.

Are precious metals a good investment? Gold isn't only for the rich...although some people do keep gold bars in their houses! Imagine the luxury of walking into your closet and seeing hundreds of gold bricks! I wish I had that luxury. Perhaps someday. In the meantime, I've made two Investments in Precious Metals. Here are three simple ways to invest in precious metals...

1) Purchasing the metals physically.

Sure, you might have a pile of gold bars at home. Maybe you have a bag of silver coins. Keep them in a safe place. For my personal situation, there is simply no safe, secure way for me to hide them. Unfortunately, this is the case for many people. Metal bullion refers to physical metals.

2) Invest in PM stocks using an electronic funds transfer.

Currently, I have one Gold EFT and one Silver EFT, for nearly 30% of my retirement fund. Investing in precious metals through these funds allows me to purchase precious metals without owning them. Nonetheless, you should read the prospectus of the exchange-traded fund. Some funds do not actually store all metals, but instead they are focused on derivatives. These funds should be avoided. If you take the time to do your research before investing, you can find quality EFTs.

3) Acquire junior mining companies that specialize in precious metals.

This is where I would invest a majority of my cash if I had it lying around. A junior company receives its financing from outside sources, which is why it is called a junior company. Its stock price can soar through the roof in an instant. What if its price doubled in two days? It can happen. Doing your due diligence can prevent it from happening to you as well.
