“Among all the remastered PlayStation 2 games for the PlayStation 3, Battlefield 2142 offered something out of the ordinary. At the time, few people had witnessed an evolution in online gaming, one that would continue to influence the way the next-generation of gamers played.
Militarized Conquest offered a different experience to the realistic style of gameplay associated with the MP games on the PS2. It introduced a new type of battle, one in which the player’s skill, rather than tactics or strategy, determined his victory. Combat became an intense matter of survival, a chance to dominate, and brute force was rewarded. Battlefield 2142 offered a more online Battlefield experience than any other game before.
Battlefield 2142 is the first game in the franchise to feature a unified online experience. It was meant as a solution for a game which required a large number of online servers to make gaming worthwhile, something that made it difficult to find a server to play on at the time. Many thought the game had played out and was over, but the true potential of this game never went unrealised. It is still played by a community of gamers as fervently as ever.
The game is set in the year 2142, two years after the world is devastated by a nuclear bomb.
There are five main factions in the game:
American
Amercan, Rebels, and American Revolutionaries (AR), USA faction
Arctic Wolves, Nordic Federation, and the Northern Alliance faction
British
UK, Imperial Alliance, and the British Empire faction
Federation, Muslim Brotherhood, and the Arab League faction
German
Bundesnemt, NATO, and the German Resistance faction.
Battles are defined by each individual faction and form part of the single-player campaign. In multiplayer mode, players can also play as a faction other than the one they played in the single-player mode.
An online mode is also included.
The gameplay is near identical to the single player mode, and the core objective is the same- to capture bases and destroy enemies, while protecting your own base.
Game Modes:
Deathmatch
Play the single-player campaign and take on the enemy in multiplayer.
Conquest
A giant map with several objectives.
Hero
A turn-based mode where only certain units are allowed to fight.
Allied Assault
Randomly selected maps for you to play on.
If you unlock the mode, you can play on as many maps as you like

Yes, the war rages on, and here's a new update with some of the most important additions:
Attack missions:
We have done the hard work and created what we call "Attack Missions". When a player is wounded he or she will start falling back to the base. The attacker gets a medic with a med kit, and a radio. In order to open fire, a person must follow a specific path and break a wall. These missions can only be played as attackers, and don't have any points. The only restriction is that there is a 50cm rule, so you need to shoot at that exact distance.
Frontlines:
We have added a new feature in the Frontlines, the ability to talk to the opposition via your radio. You can also share your position to the enemy and ask for a check of your position. The game will simulate the sound of gunfire and other indicators that will help the players to identify the position of your opponent.
Machine Gun Mania:
In a few months our community will enjoy the Machine Gun Mania map, which will show us what happens when people try to do to the machines what they did to the soldiers. The full version of the map will probably feature large areas that are driven by vehicles, resulting in a lot of destruction. We also have a new machine gun, the TD, which is a Russian designed tank-machine gun.
Massive Battlefield 2:
This week we are working on a massive conversion from Battlefield 2. We are planning to have 150+ tanks, about 1,000+ infantry, 7,500+ artillery pieces, 2,500+ boats, and a lot of other amazing features. In the Battlefield 2 version these components will be available as historical locations or as "places of interest".
Ship Competition:
This version is still in beta, but you can start playing now. We've added new components such as bombers and tank destroyers, a new ship support, and special rules that change the dynamics of the game. Watch this space for more news about this event.

Its also possible to win only by not losing your fighters, that was quite entertaining.
Its like that guy on the TV shows who can, not only break away from a dog but stop him, but can also knock him to the ground if you like. Its quite cool.
An alternate playstyle, War Gaming History Networkincludes a first person shooting mechanic that I found actually a fun change.
I found it quite challenging, and seeing my enemies fall and get incapacitated was more satisfying than it sounds. The strategic view of it was also very interesting.
Its not exactly new, though. I found it to be a revival, or a very similar version of Street Fighter.

I found it to be not exactly realistic.
But also not exactly lack luster.
I bought it the day it came out.
I even bought the hot-tub edition that comes with some extra scenarios.
Its also not exactly the most advanced game in history.
It was released in May of 2002.
But it was also quite controversial.
It came out on the X-Box, and only the X-Box.
Its not quite like Mortal Kombat.
Its not quite like God of War.
Its like Metroid.
Its like a clone of Resident Evil.
Its basically a fourth-person action game with a first person shooter mechanic.
Like a Ninja Master.
Its a lot more realistic than Street Fighter.
The only times it is as realistic as Street Fighter are when fighting close to an opponent.
