3D Modeling and Animation 
In addition to 2D drawing, AutoCAD allows the creation of 3D objects (solid or surface) and surfaces. 3D geometry and topology is based on the application of 3D transformations, including 'rotate, scale, translate, bend', on 2D geometry. AutoCAD can model any solids with the ability to animate any change of geometry. AutoCAD 2009 provides the ability to create and edit animation curves and key frames.
 Tools 
All tools are usually available by opening the Edit menu and selecting the tool. Some are listed below.
 Screen space tools 
All tools on the screen or where they would be, are listed in the menu Screen Space > Tools.
The screen space tools include tools that change the view of the drawing (filters, commands and transformations), tools that change the default view (e.g. axis, title, grid and snap), tools that affect the current selected object (e.g. wireframe and fill options), tools that affect the overall project (e.g. the paper size and units), tools that apply to the entire drawing (e.g. Filters and Reset) and tools that apply to the active drawing window (e.g. Window / zoom to fit)
 Window 
The default view of the drawing window is a B-shaped box. This includes: the model itself, the zoom window, the toolbars (in their default configuration), the toolbox (in their default configuration), the status bar, the property bar (if any), the annotation bar and the crosshair.
The window width is controlled through the Model Units, which can be set to arbitrary values.
The Zoom Window shows the same as the Model Window, but without the Model and Properties panes. It is automatically resized to fit the model viewport, but can be resized by clicking the edges and dragging. This resizes the model to fit the viewport.
The Toolbox and Toolbar are two collapsible areas, which can be expanded and contracted through a button. In their default configuration, they contain the following items:
 Cursor: Display the tools in a special point on the screen.
 Zoom: Zoom in and out on the model.
 Transform: Rotate, scale and move the model.
 Status: Display various information about the drawing including screen size, color settings, objects and status messages.
