"Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon'' 
Tessie Hutchinson (housewife) receives the paper with the black dot and is sentenced to death. Every year, one or more family members are sacrificed. The victim is stoned to death as a winner. It had been a lovely summer day. The stones were collected by the children. On the 27th of June, the entire community gathered in the square. Mr. Summers works as a lotto organizer. It's now or never. In the black box, Mr. Summer jumbles the papers. The night before, he and Mr. Graves made the paperwork and then locked the box at Mr. Summers' coal company. They make a list of all the village's families and households. Mr. Adams advises Old Man Warner that the lottery may be discontinued in the north village. Mr. Old Warner is a 77-year-old man who represents the people in the village, he refused Mr. Adam advise because this community will became caveman . The paper with the black dot belongs to Tessie Hutchinson. Tessie believes that it was not fair. The villagers take stones and throw them at her.
