The Internet of Things (IoT) can be defined as connecting everything to the internet be it a computerized device system, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people and becoming more ubiquitous by the day.

Now, IoT is recognized as one of the most important technological fields and has received enormous attention from various key-players. The IoT will generally cultivate unlimited numbers of devices, people and services to connect and exchange useful information and data.

Since the usage is widespread, some security and privacy issues will arise. Nowadays IoT networks are more vulnerable to cyber invasions and infections. Once controlled by hackers, IoT devices can be used to create havoc, overload networks or lock down essential equipment for financial gain.

Based the previous study in the “A Comprehensive Study of the IoT Cybersecurity in Smart Cities” by ROBERTO OMAR ANDRADE, SANG GUUN YOO, LUIS TELLO-OQUENDO and IVAN ORTIZ-GARCÉS (2020), they find that attackers take advantage of vulnerabilities to execute cyber-attacks. Five primary layers have identified in the IoT system susceptible to vulnerabilities: the network layer, the operating system, soft-ware, firmware, and hardware. Capellupo et al (Liu et al.).

In this training module, we will look into the Trojan, Malware attacks, the types of the Malware attacks and how to prevent it as possible.
