History
AutoCAD was originally developed by a small team of three engineers from The Optical Memory Company, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, who sought to transform the then-fledgling CAD market into a more commercially viable product. The first version of AutoCAD was actually called Optical Memory CAD (OMCAD), an acronym which stood for "Optical Memory Computer Aided Design." The original team included David K. Pratley and Bill Hammonds, and was led by Michael H. Fisher.
The first OMCAD was released in 1982. It was built on a 10 megabit Electromagnetic Drum (EMD) memory system using the new 1.7 megabit Computer Code of Instructions (CCI) standard that Motorola was also developing at the time. OMCAD was marketed as a desktop CAD system with the aim of serving small businesses that typically used flat-bed plotters for engineering and drafting, and large CAD packages such as AutoLISP and AutoCAD on mainframe computers for CAD automation and engineering. OMCAD stood out from AutoCAD in that its support for drafting and engineering was restricted to the more mechanical functions of design such as line and area placement, and didn't support parametric design or any of the other advanced drafting functions that later became part of AutoCAD.
In the early 1980s, memory was expensive and typically offered only single-bit (B) capacities. The CCI standard included a major improvement in the memory organization, allowing memory to be logically broken into 8-, 16-, or 32-bit data fields, each of which could be separately read, written, or updated. This greatly increased the number of bits available for CAD and, importantly, increased the amount of data that could be processed in a single operation. At the time, a 10 megabit EMD memory system could only store between two and four bits per CCI instruction, so the initial version of OMCAD (which could only support a single bit per CCI instruction) ran at a maximum of about seven CCI instructions per

In infants, rapid growth is related to increased insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) in blood. We determined the contribution of blood glucose (BG) to IGF-I levels in infancy. Blood was sampled from 63 normal Kenyan infants at 0, 1, 2 and 3 months of age. Fasting BG, IGF-I, insulin and C-peptide levels were measured, and IGF-binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) and IGFBP-3 levels were calculated. An exponential growth curve was fitted, and birthweight and growth rates were determined. BG and IGF-I levels at birth were similar to those in older infants. BG levels correlated negatively with IGFBP-1 and IGFBP-3 levels. Growth velocity was positively correlated with blood glucose levels and negatively with blood insulin and C-peptide levels at 1 and 2 months of age. The effect of BG on IGF-I levels is expressed in infancy and is mainly due to its negative correlation with IGFBP-1 and IGFBP-3 levels.Q:
