Total Commander is a file manager developed by Russia-based company BitMover. The tool supports ext2/ext3, ReiserFS, FAT/NTFS, VFAT/MS-DOS file systems and Virtual file systems. I find that Total Commander is not installed on many systems; and even if installed, is not always the most recent version.  I prefer to install Total Commander by downloading the "release candidate" version of its source from the project's home page, and compiling it myself.  It's not always a perfect solution, but it takes about as long as installing the binary, and does not require the installer to be updated in order to function properly with the new version of Total Commander.  The downside, of course, is that you have to do it yourself.
Update:
After digging around the TC site, I found a zip file named tc-setup.exe and tc-setup.chm.  Now I'm not sure why the setup program is for the plugin, but if you run the program, it will take you through a short dialog of options.  The dialog is more extensive than the options for the File System Plugin, but still a bit simple.  It takes about 5 minutes to configure things, and then will prompt you for the details of the website you'd like to use to download the source.  Once you have the source, you can skip down to "Preparing Source Code" and then "Building the Plugin".

Which startup script executes in the default Ubuntu 11.04?
When starting Ubuntu with the login screen, there are 2 startup scripts in the default 11.04 installation: /etc/init/lightdm.conf and /etc/init/gdm.conf. I assume that the former one is used as the login screen and the latter one is used as the login manager. Am I right?
