That year, Roblox Studio also released its first game, a match-3 puzzle game named “Princess Puzzle.” In 2010, that game’s creator was recognized by the Guinness World Record as “the first to win a game in under four minutes” when he released a version of the game called “Princess Puzzle HD.” During the same year, Roblox partnered with Disney to promote “Roblox: Builders Club.” The game, which is based on Disney’s popular Disney Infinity line of video game products, was released in March 2013.
Prior to its release, Roblox’s user base was fairly small, and Roblox had seven employees when it was released. In 2010, Roblox employed seven individuals, and by 2012, the company’s staff had increased to 70 employees. In September 2012, Roblox launched the first version of its API, which opened up the platform for developers to create games. Users of the platform could then add and play games created by other users, and the company introduced a play-for-free model for its games with this update.
