Intersectionality

Intersectionality refers to the idea that we have multiple social identities and how these interact will affect how we experience life. It provides a framework that can show us how different systems of power interact with one another, for example gender and race or religion and race, to create unique experiences of discrimination or privilege. The first person to use the term was black feminist Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw in 1989.
