Here's What We Know
On the night of November 5th, concertgoers prepared to attend the first day of the two day AstroWorld festival in headlined by Jacques Webster (professionally known by stage name ‘Travis Scott’) in Houston, Texas when chaos, caused by mismanagement and incitement, ensued.
What was supposed to be a thrilling event to see many fan-favorite artists perform turned awry starting when hundreds of attendees - presumably ones without a ticket - knocked down the barricade, ran through the security pathways, and entered the event dangerously.
This is a known occurrence at Webster’s events, who has brandished the name ‘The Rager’ as well has calls his fanbase ‘Ragers’. “We don’t like people that just stand — whether you’re black, white, brown, green, purple, yellow, blue — we don’t want you standing around…get in and you just have fun.” Is what Webster told GQ magazine when asked about his raging.
It is very clear that the raging went too far. Fans compared the event to hell as bodies were stomped on and trampled in the crowd. It was so above capacity that emergency services workers had a difficult time administering help to those experiencing medical emergencies in the crowd. As a result of the casualties experienced at this event, as of today ten people have been confirmed dead.
