Why do we need Relationship Advice?
Although the term “Relationship Advice” is probably not at the top of the list of things you would want to be a source for, there are things you can do to help a relationship. I’m not suggesting that you can make a relationship work; however, you can help to make it better.
Before I go into specifics of how you can help, I would like to say that the act of help you do for your relationship may never be a formal action to take, unless it is intentional. Let’s say you take the time to hear what someone wants to say, even if you think they are wrong. This is more than most couples do. As I will suggest below, this may only be a start, but could be the start of a long journey with your significant other. The idea is to give in and listen to someone even if you don’t want to listen to them. This can be an awkward experience for you, but, it is not as awkward as the experience of not listening to someone. You could say that it is uncomfortable, but I would suggest you be comfortable with your discomfort. As I suggest here, sometimes discomfort is the catalyst for a change in your behavior and thinking.
Although you may be uncomfortable, you will feel even more uncomfortable if you never address the issue. I believe that one of the main reasons people who are in relationships remain in them is because they avoid change and often want to avoid being confronted with the facts.
Relationship Advice:
The first thing I would suggest you do is to avoid being offended by what the other person says. If you think that this is too much to ask, then you are certainly right. It is much more uncomfortable to feel offended than it is to be uncomfortable. Next, you could ask your partner what he or she is really upset about. By asking this, you are giving them the opportunity to address what is really bothering them.
