Building Community

During my time in Holland, I have endeavored not only to build community within the classrooms that I visit, but also with the larger world. I not only helped students and teachers with technology in the classroom, but connected them with an ever widening lense. A few of the ways I accomplished this were: I brought in visitors from a retirement home to discuss their experiences in WWII, ran a mystery skype with an educator in Spain, and connected a classroom with an Oscar winning film maker about his time in Peru. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked to bridge the divide between students and teachers with technology, reach out to parents with resources to help facilitate the changes, create online ceremonies to continue the traditions that Holland holds dear, and most importantly give the Seniors a graduation that they will never forget.
