Concept
Double Tone IQ Generator is an easy to use dual channel Dual Tone
Generator which is provided with a special encoder. The encoder reads the
two internal IQ-signals and creates a third signal by using the difference
of the two input signals. This can be used with a mixer or just an output
filter to go to a stereo amplifier or loudspeaker or to a test system. The
output of the encoder can be configured to be either positive or negative
and one channel can be either positive or negative depending on the clock
source.

intended receiver
• Testing the signal path between SSB-transmitter and receiver
• Mixing two different SSB-transmitters and measuring the signal
path (e.g. between two SSB-transmitters)

• Compensating phase offset between the transmitter and the receiver
• Comparison of SSB-transmitters with several different parameters (e.g.
filter)
• Comparing two of more channel SSB-transmitters
• Installing a test version of software to the transmitter side to
test e.g. a new radio, a new software update of the transmitter or a
frequency planning of the transmitter
Example
The typical example of Double Tone IQ Generator is depicted below and is
configured by default to generate two sine carriers with a ratio of 3:1
(e.g. 300.0 Hz and 600.0 Hz respectively). During some measurements or
simulations, it can be useful to have a different ratio of the two sine
carriers.
Measurement Example:
Prior to the measurements and calculations, the sine waves can be
created using one of the following methods:
1. Using “RealTime” Software
The actual configuration of the values can also be achieved using the software “RealTime” (realtimeIQ) which can be downloaded from RealTime Software website
under “IQ-Generator/Background”.
2. Using “math” Software
If only the software “math” is available, then the following calculation
can be applied:

Power Supply:
