The Sandstrom Brothers was a string trio formed in the 1970s, by recording artists and brothers Viggo (later known as Viggo Guldstrand) and Olaf Sandstrom.  After extensive touring and recording, the group found a regular home on the Danish label SteepleChase (later: Trunk Records).  The band recorded for an extensive period in the 1970s and 1980s, releasing eight albums and ten singles.  The Sandstrom Brothers were prolific contributors to the string band and European folk music revival, releasing as many as four albums a year.
The brothers lived in their native Copenhagen, where they played for the general public, and for museums, art galleries and private engagements.  They were members of The Little Big Band, a group of string musicians which included Anders Lindbäck and Henning Christiansen.  The band members often shared vocal duties on their recordings.  Their solo work was also very successful.
After the brothers had disbanded, Olaf continued to make music, and he has recorded two solo albums.  Olaf Sandstrom died on 28 February 2004, after a long illness.
