Produced in collaboration between MAES and Northcoders, the app was originally designed for learners on the Talk English programme with a low-level of English. We thought it would be really beneficial for our Beginner Digital Skills learners who often have low proficiency in English language or literacy. 
While we call it an "app", it is actually a website that learners add to the home-screen of their phones. Unlike other websites, learners cannot leave the site or access the address bar - it is self-contained. And so in terms of the user experience it functions just like a regular app.
Teachers can add learners to discrete classrooms and create modules, organised in different topics, with learning activities and tasks. The learning activities (for presentation and practice) are more controlled, whereas the tasks (for production) are freer.
Learners can use the classroom to chat with all of the class or send direct messages just to their teacher. Teachers can create ILPs and set targets and can easily add evidence to the targets by gold-starring work in the app.
