In this post, we’ll be testing the usability and functionality of Photoshop Elements to help you make a more informed decision on which software to get.
Editing Photos and Cropping
One of the most used features by Photoshop Elements users is the cropping tool, which allows you to cut out part of the original image and save it.
You can increase or decrease the size of a crop and alter the position of it in the original image.
The cropping tool in Photoshop Elements is a bit different than other solutions, since it allows you to center the crop, select an area of the image to use, or let the computer make this choice.
When cropping, you can crop to the center of the frame by moving the green frame to any position. You can also crop to a specific area by clicking and dragging the frame on the screen, filling the frame with one of the corners of the image, the top-left corner, or the bottom-right corner.
When you select an area to crop to, Photoshop Elements moves the rest of the image and creates a transparent frame.
You can easily change the size of the area you’ve selected by dragging the handle at the top of the frame and typing the new size.
You can also make the selection smaller or larger by dragging the handle along the top of the image and typing the new size.
Like in previous versions of Photoshop Elements, you can also crop with the scale tool.
Similar to Photoshop’s crop tool, you can move your cursor over the image and scale to get different size crops. However, you can’t change the size of the area you’ve selected. You can scale up, down, left, or right. However, all of the in-between sizes will be cropped to the center of the image.
However, if you want to crop and resize at the same time, you can select the menu button in the corner of the toolbox and select that option, and then just keep dragging to change the size of the crop.
You can also resize the image as needed by dragging the window in the bottom left corner of the image. However, make sure to resize the image so it fits properly into your photo editor.
Like in previous versions of Photoshop Elements, you can quickly crop an image by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking and dragging
