A brief introduction to AutoCAD
The primary way to get started with AutoCAD is to create a new project. When you create a new project, you are creating a drawing and drafting space that you can use to design and draft.
Open the AutoCAD program and click on New to create a new project.
Before you start to draw, you have to activate the pen tool. To activate the pen tool, select it and right click in the drawing area.
Now, to start drawing, click the mouse inside the drawing area to place a cursor at the location you want to draw.
Drag the mouse to draw a line from the start point to the end point.
To add text to the drawing, select the text tool and click anywhere on the drawing area.
To get out of text mode, click on the text tool again. To activate the text, type a few letters.
To add a dashed line, select the line tool and click to draw a line.
To add more lines, right click in the drawing area and select Line⇒Line from the menu.
To close a line or change the color of a line, right click in the drawing area and select Line⇒Line properties.
Once you are done creating the lines, right click in the drawing area and select Line⇒Line⇒Relative⇒Change. This makes all the lines relative to the current mouse position. Click on OK to save the changes.
You can also change the width of a line by selecting the line tool and clicking the right mouse button.
Adding text to your drawing
Select the text tool to add text to the drawing. You can write text on any drawing object, but this tutorial will focus on the type of objects that you use for drafting.
Type the letters A, B, C and D.
You can change the font style of your text by selecting the text tool and clicking the right mouse button.

 In AutoCAD LT 2012 and newer, the following software is available to create a sandbox solution that creates a runable application in the form of a.MPS (Microsoft Windows Package).
 In AutoCAD 2012, VBA is available in the standard AutoCAD applications, but it requires licensing. AutoCAD 2013 introduced macros as a language based on Visual Basic. If a user creates a new drawing using a copy of an existing drawing, their VBA code is not incorporated into the new drawing.
AutoCAD's ability to import and export drawings to and from a number of formats has been expanded with the introduction of the DXF (Drawing Interchange Format) export options in AutoCAD 2010. In addition, the inclusion of native support for the STEP (Standard for Information Technology-based Embedding) file format, which is the native format for many CAD software applications, such as Architectural Desktop and CATIA, added to AutoCAD 2012.
