When doing this, he discovered that the graphics in the game were made using an open-source programming language called Lua, which he had never used before. After the software was installed, he noticed that there were almost no tutorials or examples of how to make games using it. That convinced him that he should start learning how to make games with it.
In April 2005, Roblox was released; the Roblox site was an online playable game creation system designed for game developers to make games for a wide range of genres. Shortly after the initial release, Roblox began to run into technical problems; from mid- to late 2005, the server struggled with hardware and server capacity issues. The company provided extensions and fixes to the program itself. Roblox eventually hit its stride, in part due to the growing popularity of the Internet and LAN gaming.
In March 2006, the first version of the user interface was released. On February 20, 2006, Roblox introduced the ability to play games with other players, and released its original set of "core" games. The first popular game to be released on Roblox was Flubber, made by ThePlayster.
