An organisational strategy describes how it intends to create value for shareholders, customers and citizens (Kaplan & Norton, 2004). New businesses often don’t possess formal strategy and have a lack of clarity about day to day operations of a company. Therefore strategy must be considered and managed appropriate and is why we use a strategy map. Literature has enforced the usage of Strategy Mapping and the Balanced Scorecard as ways to plan meticulously to strategy considerations (Kun, 2008).
What are plans and the importance of planning? 
Companies are constantly adapting their planning procedures to adjust with the business environment (Steiner, 2010). Consequently, the phenomenon of planning has catapulted into the priorities of start-up firms. Therefore it is fundamental that our firm gain a degree of knowledge to plan for change. This is where the business model comes into play.
