Home-School Partnership
I would like to thank every parent who has got in touch with us this term to ask questions, offer support, offer suggestions, attend meetings, communicate challenges and attend school events. Whether it was providing food for International Day, attending a class assembly, or asking for help in accessing Canvas or the Parent Portal...whether it was attending a workshop, telling the class teacher that their child was struggling with something, or letting your class parent representative know about something that isn’t working for your family. We really appreciate all feedback and engagement and it really does make a difference to the learning and wellbeing of our children. Thank you to everyone for your engagement and support. I feel privileged to be a part of a close and supportive community of children, staff and parents.

Absences
Our school target for attendance is 95%. This is because we know that a high attendance correlates positively with school success and progress. If your child misses school, they miss out on vital learning opportunities. Learning happens throughout the final week of term, and it is a wonderful, shared experience and social/relationship building to participate in the festivities on the last day of term. For this reason, we are always reluctant to approve absences for non-essential reasons. Please make every effort to avoid booking holidays and travel during term time. This does not apply to essential absences such as illness, medical, immigration and major life events such as weddings, funerals etc.

Communication
If your family is experiencing changes or life events, it is important to let the class teacher know. Moving home, family illness, births, deaths (including of a pet) and divorce have an impact on children. They often struggle to articulate their feelings, and there are changes to behaviour instead. Our teachers are here to help but can only offer support if they know that help is needed. We care deeply about our children and we see your children 5 days a week for at least 7 hours a day. We can make a difference, so please do let us know if your child might need a bit of extra TLC.
