Meat-Free Mondays
At the parent Delirest Meeting, our Parent Reps discussed our meat-free Mondays and highlighted that our community were unaware of how this imitative began or its significance.
A couple of years ago, the Eco Council in Secondary suggested that we need to think more about our impact on the environment and proposed a simple idea which was in-keeping with our target of being a sustainable school.
When our students show global awareness and have ideas for how they can have an impact on the world, we always wish to support them, so as a school, we agreed to start meat-free Mondays.
Meat production contributes to global warming because it causes deforestation when it is cleared to make way for farms, wastes water, destroys biodiversity and it is estimated that livestock farming is responsible for 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Delirest discussed how we will develop our vegetarian options on Mondays and were happy with some of the suggestions made.
