I thought about the timeline of similar events, and it has some similarity:
1929: market crash, world collapse, blame Mr. President (Hoover)
2019: Covid discovery, world shut down, blame Mr. President (Trump)
FDR's fireside chats could be compared to Trump's active Twitter account (before being banned from the site)
1932: election (FDR), "govt needs to take responsibility for human welfare" : CCC, AAA, NRA (Natl Recovery Assoc): govt overreach
2020: election (Biden), raise minimum wage, federal student loan forgiveness, Paris Climate Accord, Affordable Care Act, increase taxes 
1935: populist Huey Long gained popularity with his Share Our Wealth Program, New Deal introduced Social Security Act, Revenue Act (tax the absolute crap out of the wealthy), Works Progress Administration (federal job creation)
With this in mind, I have decided the 1930s are more relevant to current American life. While the '20s popularized cars and radio, I think the aftermath of the New Deal is more important today. Get ready for some serious alphabet soup:
Banks & the FDIC
FDR started his presidency with the declaration of a bank holiday and began work on The Emergency Banking Act, which gave the federal government authority where it didn't before: regulating banks. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) was created in the aftermath, which still insures individual bank accounts today. 
Homes & the HOLC
The Home Owners Loan Corporation was meant to help settle the housing market. This began to carve the path for federal government's role in home mortgages that continues today. 
Stock Market & the FTC
FDR's Security Act was meant to fix what wrongs became apparent in the stock market crash of 1929. This put the federal government in the middle of regulating the market by increasing the power of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in investigation and criminal prosecution. This continues today.
Labor: the FERA, PWA, CCC, NRA, WPA etc.
FDR wanted to employ people to increase consumer spending power to increase the economy. The Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) financed local works projects from 1933 through '35. The Public Works Administration (PWA) funded many infrastructure projects from 1933 through '39, many of which still stand. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) put young urban men to work on rural conservation projects from 1933 through '42. Many of these projects can be seen in national parks and forests today. 
The National Recovery Administration (NRA) was created to regulate industries by creating codes of fair competition, which resulted in maximum hours, minimum wages, union rights, and prohibited child labor. The codes eventually got out of hand, and the NRA was declared unconstitutional in 1935. However, many of the ideas are still around today, thanks in part to:
The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 set a national minimum wage and a 40-hour work week. The law did not include workers in agriculture, domestic service, and some other service areas, but it did prohibit employing children under 16 in most occupations.
The Wagner Act affirmed the right of workers to organize unions, required employers to bargain with union representatives, and enhanced the power of the National Labor Relations Board to mediate disputes.
The Works Progress Administration (WPA) directly hired 3.3 million of unemployed populace to build infrastructure, some of which is still around. It also encouraged the arts around the nation.
Rural Aid: the TVA, AAA, etc.
FDR thought the American family farm was at the center of fixing the American economy. The Emergency Farm Mortgage Act refinanced refinanced farm loans at lower interest rates on easier terms. The Farm Credit Act established local credit institutions for farmers to improve their access to capital. These laws set a precedent that continues today.
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) created dams and public power plants in the Tennessee River Valley, which controlled flooding, improved agriculture, developed industry. This sparked economic growth in the region of seven southeastern states. Today, TVA is the largest public power producer in America. 
The Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA) encouraged farmers to cut their production: decrease herd size and leave some fields unplanted. Less goods in the market was intended to increase competition, therefore increasing prices. 
The AAA also created the Farm Bill, which provides an opportunity for Congress to address agricultural and food issues comprehensively about every five years. There have been 54 farm bills, the latest of which was signed into law in 2018 by President Trump. 
FDR had a vision for conservation. He implemented the Soil Conservation Service to enrich soil and the Taylor Grazing Act to regulate grazing on public ranges. He also added millions of acres to the National Forest system.
Social Security
In my mind, the most influential part of the New Deal era legislation is the Social Security Act, which created pensions for the elderly, unemployment insurance, and provided grants to assist the disabled and fatherless children.
21st Amendment: the End to Prohibition
FDR was adamantly against Prohibition. The 21st Amendment was passed in December of 1933, and still stands today. 
Fireside Chats
FDR's Fireside Chats popularized radios and made the presidency more personal for American citizens. As I mentioned before, this can be translated into modern times with President Trump's avid use of Twitter.
