When using any of the following technologies, creating a Drawing is an expensive operation, and the performance is not good. If you want the user to be able to do some kind of drag, then the amount of work you do is huge.
Is there any kind of library that solves this issue?
Edit: I'm using Silverlight 4, Silverlight 5 should solve it, but for now, I'm stuck with this version.

I do not know much about Silverlight but have noticed this with Silverlight 2.0.
The performance of drawing is very high, as the Canvas or Image works via direct hardware access. On the WPF side (e.g. for an imageviewer) there is a C# code interface to the graphics capabilities of the OS and the hardware which means that is alot more overhead to get data on the screen.
However the silverlight model is that you supply objects to the canvas (E.g. rectangles). So again, it is possible to do only what you need, without the overhead from the WPF / Silverlight team.
Here is a overview of what you can do in Silverlight (taken from the custom canvas on wpf), you can work with the shapes by attaching and removing them directly on the canvas.
