Source:  now, the mental health and the wellness of our community is something that should be considered very important by all of us. The mental health system is still very fragmented and many of our community members experience the system as lacking when they are in need of supports and services.
We recognize that wellness and mental health are intertwined and we feel that it is our responsibility to educate our community on both. While we take the concept of wellness extremely seriously, we cannot be the ones to initiate the conversation nor take an active role within the mental health system without all of us doing it together. We see the wonderful success of our community as an opportunity to create a positive culture of wellness in our community, and we believe that wellness is a goal that can be achieved by all of us if we work together as a community.
We are calling on residents, newcomers, and long-time residents to donate their time and resources to make our community a healthier community, one where all residents have access to supports and resources they need and desire, and one where we all benefit from the social and mental wellbeing of our community.
We cannot begin the conversation on mental health in the Foothills without a baseline understanding of our community members’ needs and wants. By completing a survey, we are asking members of the community to help us determine:
What resources and supports are available within the Foothills?
What kind of resources and supports are needed to make those available?
If possible, please identify a community-based organization that you would like to partner with to help build capacity within the area.
We recognize that the resources available to the Foothills community are greater than the resources available anywhere else in Alberta. By partnering with organizations from across Alberta, we believe we can make a positive contribution to our community.

Guess who's not amused? LeBron James, or so the Indiana Pacers allege.
After finishing his game with Indiana on Friday night with a flagrant foul, Stephenson was ejected and later told reporters that the Pacers were upset with him over what he called "flip flops" in the locker room.
"We in the past made fun of it," Pacers guard C.J. Watson said after the game. "But hey, now I'm playing for a whole new team, a whole new program. This is our house, and we're the ones who run it. Anything we can do to improve our team, we will do, but we can't let that kind of stuff get in the way."
Stephenson did not elaborate on what he meant by the "flip flops" while talking to reporters.
But Fisher, Indiana's head coach, did have an opinion.
"He made a couple of the same ones as the previous night," Fisher said of Stephenson, before Indiana beat the Chicago Bulls in the teams' first game on Friday night. "They weren't as obviously flopped as the ones he made the other night."
Stephenson's comment was followed by a great deal of laughter and no clarification from Indiana's point guard.
Told after the game that Indiana's locker room was "flippin'," Stephenson asked reporters what they meant.
While Fisher referred to the Pacers' locker room as "our house," Pacers coach Frank Vogel was not amused. He told reporters after Indiana's win that he "could never understand" what Stephenson was talking about.
"In the locker room, I'm not sure Lance really understands the locker room," Vogel said after the game. "It's one of those things. I don't know what he was trying to imply or what he was talking about. That wasn't really funny to me, and if he was talking about that in front of his teammates, I think that's a little stupid."
Stephenson was ejected by referee David Guthrie in the Pacers' 94-92 win over Indiana for committing a flagrant foul on Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich with 2:19 left in the game.
