I wish I was able to get away from those ageist robots. Way back when I played games (in the early 90's), all of the young teens I knew wanted us to hate the Arcade, which was basically the Satanic Temple of the 80's. Gamers of that age simply did not want to be noticed by a superior gentry of gamers, for it was seen as sinful, which was just confirmation that we were common street punks.
So by the time I was an adolescent, I just could not see such a game as anything more than an ego boost to the weaker peoples. Now all of the gamers I know, also older, want to deny that. But I refuse to recant.
I would like to thank all of those advanced teenagers for their contributions to all of video gaming, the field which I love.

*I recently played a game called BORDERLANDS.
In it, one man game would pick a colour and the other would get a ball and try to create a ball from the colour. At first, it was really easy to do. The computer would throw the ball towards you and you would throw the ball towards the same colour.
However, the game advanced to the point where it became mind-numbingly difficult. One could not get the ball near the colour without seeing the colour, so the ball would go through the obstacle you just created and fly to the next obstacle.
This used to be really fun but I just couldn't do it any more. I just threw the ball at the colour and hoped I could knock it back so that it could go through to the next colour.
The difficulty was certainly appropriate and made the game more enjoyable. Also, the number of items became fewer and fewer. The designer (on a managerial level) must have realized this. I am actually glad the challenge was changed, and at the same time, at a cost to those who enjoy this kind of gaming the most.
I do not say this to single out the game or the designer. Rather, I am really proud to speak to his creative genius in game design. It is a very enjoyable experience.
