On Monday, March 29, Uconn and Baylor competed to fight for a spot in the Final Four. Historically, UConn's women's team has made it to the finals now 13 times consecutively, 21 times overall, while Baylor's team has made it a fraction of that amount (4 times). With this being said, it can be assumed that a team will have to play a great game of basketball in order to contend with UConn, especially during a game that counts for a spot in the final. However, that does not mean you should immediately count any competing team out. 
The entire game was high intensity and it was impossible to ignore the skill and athleticism of both teams! In the final quarter the score was extremely close and the teams were truly battling for that spot in the Final Four. With that being said, any call (or missed call in this case) by the refs has a major impact on the game. There had been missed calls all night, but the final one was by far the most impactful.
Some may argue that since the controversial missed call in question wasn't the first one of the night, people shouldn't be complaining about it. However, if you are an athlete or a true sports fan, you understand the kind of affect a bad set of refs can have on a game. I understand this myself, being a D1 collegiate athlete, and it can completely take away from a great game. The job of the refs is to protect the athletes and ensure that the rules are followed in order to have a fair game and a true winner. It is NOT to take the ball out of the hands of the athlete's or essentially decide the fate of the game. In the case of the UConn/ Baylor game, the refs decided who won for themselves.
