"Even with the best of intentions its people without power that are going to suffer" This is a quote from the above video taken from the Joe Rogan Experience documenting a conversation between Joe Rogan and Jonathan Zimmerman. What Jonathan Zimmerman is referring to is restrictions being placed upon individuals right to freedom of speech. Jonathan Zimmerman believes that no matter what you are trying to accomplish restricting free speech in any capacity is wrong and ultimately will only lead society down a bad road. A lot of times people come up with ideas to ban hate speech in order to help others but in the end if speech they deem as hateful does start to get banned it will end up being a slippery slope. The problem with banning hate speech is who is this person we are supposed to trust when it comes to banning what we can and cannot say. When and if speech does start to become banned the most affected by this would be those with the least amount of power as they have the least amount of ability to fight back against the restrictions.
