AutoCAD is a CAD program for creating and modifying 2D and 3D models and technical drawings. It features most of the tools found in other CAD software, including area selection and drawing tools, text and dimensions, and imported and native file formats. In addition to standard 2D and 3D drafting tools, AutoCAD supports 3D visualization. It can also be used to create computer-aided design (CAD) drawings for integrated circuit (IC) design, mechanical design, product design, architectural design, civil engineering and other technical design tasks.
In October 2012, Autodesk reorganized its software product lines. The former AutoCAD product line now includes AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD Electrical, and AutoCAD Architect.
